At Canyon Zen we will show you how to clean your kitchen cupboards and your appliances with natural products and essential oils.
If you have wood cupboards, once in a while the wood has to be maintained to keep its shine and prolong its life. Now of course you can get products at your hardware store or at your grocery store to clean and nourish the wood, however most have chemicals and can also be expensive.
How do we care for ours? We use avocado oil (it is non-greasy) and we have also mixed-in some pine essential oil. Then using a lint-free paper towel or other towel, get the oil on your cupboard like you would if you were using a wax and put on a thin layer. When all of your cupboards are done, using a clean paper towel, remove the excess of the oil starting from the first cupboard you did, that will give time for the wood to absorb some of the oil.
What you need:
A small dish
Avocado oil
Essential oil of your choice
Paper towel
In the small dish, cover the bottom with the avocado oil and pour 10 drops of essential oils, mix it and it is ready for use. Do a test on a small portion first before doing your cupboard. Once you are done with the cupboards and have some oil left, keep reading to see what else you can do with it.
That brings us to the following; stainless steel appliances. Yes, avocado oil and stainless steel. Who knew! We tried different tricks to clean the blemish, water spot and we did not wanted to use chemical products. Since we had some of the oil left, we did a test on the dishwasher, and the door looks like new. Put a little bit of oil on the appliance, and follow the grain of the steel, in our case it was sideways, and rub in the oil. If you have a spot that won’t remove, put some more oil and keep rubbing. When you are done, using a clean, dry paper towel wipe the appliance until it is dry. You will notice if you rub your hand on the appliance, it is not greasy and leaves no finger prints.
